Editor Ethics
The Editorial Board of the IBEC Journal is committed to maintaining the highest standards of integrity and professionalism in the editorial process. The following ethical principles guide all editorial decisions and practices.
1. Editorial Independence
Editors are given full responsibility and authority to accept or reject a manuscript. Their decisions are based solely on the manuscript’s scholarly merit, relevance to the journal's scope, originality, and clarity, without any commercial or institutional influence.
2. Fair Evaluation
All manuscripts are evaluated fairly and objectively, regardless of the authors’ race, gender, nationality, institutional affiliation, or political beliefs. The decision to publish is not influenced by any personal, financial, or political factors.
3. Confidentiality
Editors must maintain strict confidentiality of all manuscripts submitted to the journal. Manuscripts are not shared or discussed with anyone outside the editorial and peer review process, except as authorized by the Editor-in-Chief.
4. Conflicts of Interest
Editors must declare any conflicts of interest (financial, professional, or personal) that may affect their impartiality. If a conflict arises, the editor should withdraw from handling the manuscript and delegate it to another editor.
5. Peer Review Integrity
Editors are responsible for:
-
Ensuring a rigorous and unbiased peer review process
-
Selecting qualified reviewers with appropriate expertise
-
Protecting reviewer confidentiality
-
Ensuring authors are given an opportunity to respond to reviewer feedback constructively
6. Handling Misconduct
If editors identify plagiarism, duplicate publication, fabricated data, or other forms of academic misconduct, they will act promptly in accordance with COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines, including initiating corrections, retractions, or reporting to relevant institutions if needed.
7. Transparency and Accountability
Editors are expected to:
-
Publish clear and accessible editorial policies
-
Ensure that all contributions meet high academic and ethical standards
-
Provide a platform for the correction of errors or ethical concerns, when necessary
